Law School Rankings

A Cautionary Note

Rankings of law schools, as well as rankings of other educational institutions for that matter, have been the source of great controversy. Let us state for the record, that these rankings are misused and way too much importance is placed on them. Even supposedly quantitative rankings are highly subjective. It is far more beneficial to attend a law school where you are a good fit instead of simply a school that happened to earn a particular quantitative ranking this past year.

Our Law School Rankings

We include an alphabetical list of our top 20 law schools below. These 20 schools were very subjectively chosen (hey, at least we openly admit it!) and we looked at factors such as prestige, admissions selectivity, recruitment of recent graduates and the school's bar passage rate (in the school's jurisdiction) vis-a-vis the jurisdiction's overall pass rate. This ranking is included because (1) it is our most frequently asked question and (2) it was not overly time intensive to put together the statistics for the top 20 schools, particularly since these are the law schools for which applicants generally need the most information.
